With the development of medical technology in recent years, the technology of orthodontics is very diversified. Today we will introduce some common orthodontic appliances.
There are five kinds of orthodontic appliances in common use
1. Transparent and invisible appliance
The thickness of the invisible appliance is less than 1 mm. It is transparent, smooth and comfortable. It does not bring you foreign body sensation and mucous membrane stimulation. The orthodontic time of using the invisible appliance is one third shorter than that of using the traditional metal orthodontic appliance. 
 
2. Translucent and ceramic appliance
All-ceramic brackets fit closely with teeth, have good biocompatibility, and are more beautiful and comfortable than traditional brackets. They are comfortable.
 
3. Self locking bracket appliance
 Self locking bracket is a new kind of orthodontic appliance. It seems to be a small change, but it brings a revolutionary change to fixed orthodontic technology. The main advantage of this orthodontic appliance is that it can greatly reduce the friction resistance between steel arch wire and bracket.
 
4. Invisible lingual orthodontic appliance
It refers to that the orthodontic appliance is pasted on the lingual side of the tooth, so that the appliance can not be seen by the patient in the whole treatment process. The lingual orthodontic process is relatively complex. Lingual wire will move more slowly when placed on the side of the tooth , so the orthodontic time is relatively long.
 
5. Traditional metallic appliance
The traditional metallic bracket appliance is a practical orthodontic appliance. It has the advantages : low price, stable performance. But it is lack of aesthetic. It’s more difficult to maintain oral health during orthodontic treatment.
