In order to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia in the fields of prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, vaccine and drug research, the “COVID-19 Prevention and Control Exchange Meeting supported by the Alliance of Chinese and Russian Medical Universities" sponsored by Guangdong Pharmaceutical University was held at the International Conference Center of Guangzhou University Town Campus of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University at 14:30, on August 16th, 2020.


    The meeting was presided over by the president of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University. Wang Xi, the vice governor of Guangdong Province, attended the opening ceremony and made a speech. The leader of the high-level expert group of National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China- Academician Zhong Nanshan, the Chinese President of the alliance of Chinese and Russian Medical University - Academician Yang Baofeng, the director of clinical research department of First Moscow State Medical University- Professor Vladimir Andrianov, the president of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine- Academician Zhang Boli, the director of Beijing National Engineering Research Center for Biochip- Academician Cheng Jing, the president of Nanjing Medical University- Academician Shen Hongbing, the professor of St. Petersburg State University and visiting professor of First Moscow State Medical University- Academician Jeruda Schonfeld, the president of  Bashkir State Medical University- Academicain Valentine Pavlov and the founder of YILING PHARMACEUTICAL - Academician Wu Yiling, attended the meeting.


    The theme of this meeting is "focus on the prevention and control of COVID-19, and deepen the cooperation between China and Russia in the fight against the epidemic". The purpose of holding the meeting is to communicate with each other to promote new measures and research on the epidemic prevention of China and Russia, jointly fight the epidemic, and further consolidate the cooperation between China and Russia.
    Academician Zhong Nanshan said : “ The meeting was held at a university in Guangdong Province for the first time. It was held by Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, which has made outstanding contributions to the research and development of the combination of pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine in China, so it is a very good opportunity to exchange. China has its own unique anti-epidemic methods of traditional Chinese medicine, while Russia has a low fatality rate in the epidemic prevention and control , and there are some technologies and strategies that are worthy of learning for our country.


    Academician Zhang Boli started the sharing and exchange on the contribution of Chinese medicine to fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. In this epidemic, Chinese medicine has made certain contributions to the fight against the coronavirus.
    At present, the epidemic is still spreading on a large scale in many countries and regions. We still need to continue to do well in the epidemic prevention. This meeting was held with the hope that through cooperation of China and Russia, we can do well in the epidemic prevention and treatment with the high-level medical technologies, step up vaccine development and production, strive to eliminate the COVID-19 epidemic as soon as possible, promote health and restore people's livelihood!
