Having supernumerary teeth is a common symptom in children. A supernumerary tooth is an extra tooth that grows next to or on one side of a normal tooth. Some of these teeth will show the root, and some will not sprout in the gums. Having supernumerary teeth is harmful to the health of children's teeth. It will occupy the position of healthy teeth, resulting in uneven teeth. So how to do with supernumerary teeth?
 
    Supernumerary teeth should be found and treated as soon as possible. The supernumerary teeth that can sprout out to the oral cavity can be seen by naked eyes, while the supernumerary teeth buried in the jaw that do not erupt need to be detected by X-ray examination. Therefore, it is very important to have an oral check-up for children regularly.
 
    If the supernumerary teeth can be found early and extracted in time, the influence on permanent dentition will be reduced. The root of supernumerary tooth is usually shorter than that of normal permanent teeth, and it  grows early than the normal one. In the mixed dentition period, supernumerary teeth often cause difficulty in eruption or displacement of permanent teeth.
 
    If the supernumerary teeth are embedded in the jaw and the child is younger and the teeth are in the formation stage, it should be observed that the extraction can be postponed when the permanent tooth germ may be damaged by surgical extraction. The supernumerary teeth should be extracted after the root development of permanent teeth are completed. In order to determine the number and location of supernumerary teeth, X-ray, curved or longitudinal slices can be used for extraction.
 
    If abnormal teeth are found in children during tooth change, cildren should be taken to see the dentist. Supernumerary teeth should be extracted and the front teeth can be adjusted by themselves. Orthodontic appliances or leather bands can be worn for orthodontics. However, if the supernumerary teeth are in normal position and have functions, it is unnecessary to remove them.
