Root canal treatment is a process in which the infection in the root canal is removed, and the root canal is tightly packed to isolate bacteria from re infection, so as to prevent apical inflammation from producing lesions or promote the healing of the original lesions. Root canal treatment is the most thorough treatment for pulpitis and periapical periodontitis. But some people will have a toothache after root canal treatment. Why does it happen?

    There are three reasons of toothache after root canal treatment.

    1. The oral disease
    Before having the root canal treatment, you haven’ t treat the oral disease well. So after the root canal treatment, the bacteria are not cleaned out but are spread here and there.

    2. Improper operation
    The improper operation by the dentist will make root canal treatment fail with root canal of different length, causing the inflammation.

    3. The filling materials
    There are more and more filling materials for root canal. Different materials suit for different people. If the patients are allergic to the filling materials, the root canal treatment fails and the patients will still have a toothache. So before treatment, the dentists should have a overall check-up for the patients.
